Linda Sue Chaney Memorial Scholarship
Linda Sue Chaney was from a humble and proud background. Her father was a farm laborer, and her mother was a housewife. As one of eight children, she saw her parent’s work hard and sacrifice to ensure that each child received the best care and opportunities possible. Linda completed her first two years toward a teaching career at Bakersfield College. After graduation, she transferred to San Jose State where she received a degree in secondary education in June 1966. After getting her degree, Linda soon realized that she would be more effective as a teacher in the primary grades, therefore she returned to college. It took her ten years to ultimately become an elementary teacher-a profession in which she would consistently excel. Linda Sue Chaney was an extraordinary person. She was an excellent example of what can be accomplished in our great country if an individual persists in his or her goal. The need for more dedicated teachers comparable to Linda Sue Chaney is unlimited.
